BMW Motorrad is the motorcycle business unit of the German company BMW, part of its Corporate and Brand Development division. The current General Director of the unit is Hendrik von Kuenheim.
BMW’s motorcycle history began in 1921 when the company commenced manufacturing engines for other companies. Motorcycle manufacturing now operates under the BMW Motorrad brand. BMW (Bayerische Motoren Werke AG) introduced the first motorcycle under its name, the R32, in 1923.
The BMW is a Sydney Turf Club Group 1 Thoroughbred horse race held over 2,400m (a mile and a half) at Weight for Age. It is held each year in April at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in Sydney Australia. The prizemoney in 2008 was AUD$2,271,400. It is run on the same day as the Golden Slipper Stakes.

2nd Regiment Royal Military Police, being a Berlin Brigade unit, were funded partly out of the famous "Berlin Budget" (i.e. subsidised by the West German government). This meant that while their RMP counterparts elsewhere in Germany were equipped with "motor cycles, general service", they had BMWs courtesy of Bonn. Unfortunately, the "Blues & Twos", with radio, often proved too much of a burden for the vehicle battery, especially on slow moving convoy duties.

Remember, those were the days when no Photoshop was around so they really did lift the cycle on top of the stand ca. 1973. Naturally, the Axiomat (no demo unit but a fully functional production model) survived the shooting with no scratches whatsoever.
